The Long Island History Committee will host its annual local history programmer’s showcase on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at SCLS beginning at 9:30 am. Committee Chair Inez Foster would like libraries to note that both the Suffolk County Historical Society and Brookhaven Town Historian are lending items related to the anniversary of Women’s Suffrage for displays in local libraries. The Long Island History Committee’s October 5 meeting will be used for planning meetings in 2018: Traveling Exhibits, Programmers Showcase and Trip, as well as dates for upcoming programs and speakers. It will be in the Blue Room at SCLS with refreshments at 9:30 AM and the program beginning at 10:00 AM.
Did you know that Suffolk County Library Association/RASD has a Long Island History Committee? This Committee was formed by a group of librarians who had an interest in Long Island’s wonderful history and wanted to make it accessible to all Long Islanders.
The committee meets quarterly to plans tours and events that spotlight the history of Long Island.
If you are interested in learning more about Long Island history for your job or to enhance your knowledge of the subject, the committee would welcome you.
