The committee provides a forum for reference librarians to meet and share ideas and techniques in the rapidly changing world of electronic resources and the impact on reference services.
The mission of the Long Island History Committee is to promote awareness of the scope of resources available in public libraries, archives, museums, colleges and universities for the study of Long Island history, and to explore the ways in which these resources can be employed most effectively in a public library environment.
The Media Committee is dedicated to improving and publicizing media materials and services both within the library and in the community. The Committee provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information as well as a network of support for those involved in media collection development and processing.
The OARS Committee meets monthly at member libraries in order to support staff who serve senior citizens and/or disabled community with information and programs, etc.
Meeting quarterly, the committee focuses on a different genre at each session. Members read books in advance and do a brief book talk and annotation at their meeting. An annotated bibliography is then printed on the RASD home page.
The mission of the CARE Committee is to share career information, resources and services and promote career development within public libraries. We hope to establish a professional voice that will represent the career needs and interests of libraries and their communities.
