During this fun-filled morning, Suffolk and Nassau librarians previewed some of the most popular electronic games for teens. Geared with Wii wands, guitars, microphones and laptops, librarians bowled on Wii, played to Guitar Hero, sang in Karaoke Revolution and answered trivia in Scene It? Librarians also had the opportunity to play some classic board games, including Apples to Apples, Jenga and Blokus.

Afterwards, Eric Luper spoke about his YA novel, Big Slick, his crazy road to publication, and how he went from reluctant reader to published author. During his presentation, Eric shared some of his favorite childhood books and why he related to them as a reluctant reader, as well as his ideas for creative story telling outlets and pairing books with reluctant readers. Stay tuned for Eric's upcoming book, tentatively titled Bug Boy, in July 2009.

Special thanks to Barbara Moon, SCLS, for organizing the event, Andrea Graham, South Country Library, and Erin Schaarschmidt, Port Jefferson Free Library, for their video game expertise, and Burton's Bookstore for arranging the book sale.
