{"id":23,"date":"2025-11-10T23:58:21","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T23:58:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scla.net\/leoc\/?page_id=23"},"modified":"2025-12-15T22:00:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T22:00:21","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/scla.net\/leoc\/index.php\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>CURRENT BOARD<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Sara Fade (She\/Her), Middle Country Public Library, Program Facilitator<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Jessica Park (She\/Her), The Smithtown Library, Newsletter<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tory Young (She\/Her), Sayville Library, Webmaster<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/scla.net\/leoc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/leoc-page-dividers-2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"65\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scla.net\/leoc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/leoc-page-dividers-2-1.png 1000w, https:\/\/scla.net\/leoc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/leoc-page-dividers-2-1-300x20.png 300w, https:\/\/scla.net\/leoc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/leoc-page-dividers-2-1-768x50.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>BYLAWS<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">The Library Employees of Color Committee of the Suffolk County Library Association<b><\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p><b>Name <br \/><\/b>This committee shall be known as the Library Employees of Color (LEOC) Committee of the Suffolk County Library Association (SCLA).<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Objective\/Mission Statement <br \/><\/b>Provide a forum that offers support and encouragement to library workers of color in Suffolk County, as well as a place to exchange ideas on how library staff can establish services celebrating and representing the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) colleagues and communities they serve.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Membership <br \/><\/b>This committee is open to all BIPOC members of SCLA, as well as non-BIPOC members who are interested in learning and supporting their colleagues.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Officers <br \/><\/b><b><\/b>LEOC will be led by a group of 3 or 4 chairpersons. <br \/>The president of SCLA shall appoint chairpersons as needed. <br \/>Sitting chairpersons may recommend SCLA members for appointment to current or upcoming vacancies. <br \/>All chairpersons must be members of SCLA.Chairpersons will serve 2-year terms. <br \/>Chairpersons may serve multiple consecutive terms. <br \/>Chairperson responsibilities will be divided as follows:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Webmaster (1) &#8211; this chairperson establishes and maintains the LEOC webpage.<\/li>\r\n<li>Newsletter (1) &#8211; this chairperson collects and disseminates a quarterly newsletter of activities and updates relevant to LEOC.<\/li>\r\n<li>Program Facilitators (1-2) &#8211; these chairpersons contact and book speakers and venues for programming planned by LEOC.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>All chairpersons share responsibility for the following:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Attending monthly SCLA Executive Board meetings, with 1 chairperson in attendance at each meeting. Rotation to be determined by sitting chairpersons.<\/li>\r\n<li>Planning committee programming and events.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><b>Meetings <br \/><\/b>The membership will meet bimonthly, with meetings held in February, April, June, August, October, and December.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Amendments <br \/><\/b>Amendments to the bylaws will be decided by a majority vote of the SCLA Executive Board.
