Miller Business Center
The Miller Business Center serves as a regional resource for businesses, independent entrepreneurs, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. Located within the Middle Country Public Library, the Miller Center offers access to extensive and specialized business resources as well as personalized business research and reference assistance. The goal of the Center is to support regional economic development by meeting the information needs of the business community, promoting a literate and job-ready workforce, and providing employment information and career exploration opportunities. The Center sponsors networking and training events and works in partnership with Long Island business support organizations to provide greater public access to the information and services they offer. Membership is free to all Long Island Library Card holders.
SCORE
SCORE, the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors, is dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals. Since 1964, they have provided education and mentorship to more than 11 million entrepreneurs. SCORE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Thanks to this generous support from the SBA and because of the selfless contributions of more than 10,000 dedicated volunteers, they are able to deliver most of our offerings at no cost.
Stony Brook Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
One of twenty-three campus-based regional Small Business Development Centers within New York State, the SBDC at Stony Brook brings together the resources of the University, the private discussion sector and government at all levels to assist entrepreneurs, business and industry in the solution of their problems, leading to increased productivity and profitability. Local institutional resources include graduate students and faculty, who provide valuable services to the Small Business Development Center. With this advantage, the Center in turn provides assistance in resolving organizational, financial, marketing and technical matters for small businesses as they encounter them. By assisting new and existing business firms, the SBDC at Stony Brook contributes to the stability and growth of the small business sector and the economy of Long Island. Stony Brook SBDC has two satellite locations at the Calverton Business Incubator and Stony Brook Southampton Campus.
