Her board service to the field includes posts such as:<br \/>\nPresident of the Long Island Historical Societies, NAACP Brookhaven Town Branch,<br \/>\nPreservation League of NYS Board of Trustees, active on the Excellence in Historic<br \/>\nPreservation Awards and Seven to Save, juries and chairs the Technical Services Committee.<br \/>\nShe is the Vice President of the board of the Museum Association of New York. Dr. Grier-Key<br \/>\nis a well-regarded guest curator and consultant who has various appointments such as<br \/>\nmanaging the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson\u2019s Drowned Meadow Cottage Museum, a<br \/>\nsurviving Revolutionary War Structure. She has been elected to various outlets that inform<br \/>\nand further the study of history, preservation, and culture. Dr. Key, an avid practitioner and<br \/>\nprofessor, uses grounded theory and sustainability models to further the agenda of inclusion<br \/>\nin traditional frameworks that have practiced institutional and structural exclusion. Dr. Grier<br \/>\nKey is one of the most outspoken advocates for the preservation and celebration of Long<br \/>\nIsland history with an emphasis on BIPOC heritage. As a founding member and lead<br \/>\norganizer of the Pyrrhus Concer Action Committee, her continued role is leading to the<br \/>\nrebuilding of the formerly enslaved Pyrrhus Concer\u2019s homestead in the heart of<br \/>\nSouthampton\u2019s Village.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOSAIC Mission:<\/strong> The purpose of the committee is to promote cultural awareness and<br \/>\ndevelop strategies for effective outreach services.&#8221; In adhering to this, the Committee<br \/>\nmeets four to seven times a year to discuss any and all issues that arise within the<br \/>\nlibraries that affect service to our diverse communities. These issues can range from<br \/>\ncollection development, to programming ideas, to creating documents in non-English<br \/>\nfonts, to where to send a non-English speaking person for immigration information. The<br \/>\nCommittee would like to think of itself as a clearinghouse on best practices in serving<br \/>\ndiverse communities. One of our main goals is to disseminate and share information in a<br \/>\ncollegial fashion.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>LILRC Diversity Internship Program<\/strong> offers diverse undergraduate students on Long<br \/>\nIsland a paid internship to learn more about libraries and librarianship as a career path.<br \/>\nLong Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) and the LILRC Diversity Committee are<br \/>\npleased to announce that Nancy Myers of Riverhead has been selected as the LILRC<br \/>\nIntern for Spring 2022. Ms. Myers is currently an undergraduate student at Suffolk County<br \/>\nCommunity College, where she will complete her Associate\u2019s Degree in Spring 2022. Ms.<br \/>\nMyers also works as a circulation clerk at the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor,<br \/>\nwhere she first developed an interest in librarianship.
