ABOUT OUR PRESENTER<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Dr. Georgette Grier-Key<\/strong> is the Executive Director and Chief Curator of Eastville Community
\nHistorical Society of Sag Harbor. Her board service to the field includes posts such as:
\nPresident of the Long Island Historical Societies, NAACP Brookhaven Town Branch,
\nPreservation League of NYS Board of Trustees, active on the Excellence in Historic
\nPreservation Awards and Seven to Save, juries and chairs the Technical Services Committee.
\nShe is the Vice President of the board of the Museum Association of New York. Dr. Grier-Key
\nis a well-regarded guest curator and consultant who has various appointments such as
\nmanaging the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson\u2019s Drowned Meadow Cottage Museum, a
\nsurviving Revolutionary War Structure. She has been elected to various outlets that inform
\nand further the study of history, preservation, and culture. Dr. Key, an avid practitioner and
\nprofessor, uses grounded theory and sustainability models to further the agenda of inclusion
\nin traditional frameworks that have practiced institutional and structural exclusion. Dr. Grier
\nKey is one of the most outspoken advocates for the preservation and celebration of Long
\nIsland history with an emphasis on BIPOC heritage. As a founding member and lead
\norganizer of the Pyrrhus Concer Action Committee, her continued role is leading to the
\nrebuilding of the formerly enslaved Pyrrhus Concer\u2019s homestead in the heart of
\nSouthampton\u2019s Village.<\/p>\n

MOSAIC Mission:<\/strong> The purpose of the committee is to promote cultural awareness and
\ndevelop strategies for effective outreach services.” In adhering to this, the Committee
\nmeets four to seven times a year to discuss any and all issues that arise within the
\nlibraries that affect service to our diverse communities. These issues can range from
\ncollection development, to programming ideas, to creating documents in non-English
\nfonts, to where to send a non-English speaking person for immigration information. The
\nCommittee would like to think of itself as a clearinghouse on best practices in serving
\ndiverse communities. One of our main goals is to disseminate and share information in a
\ncollegial fashion.<\/p>\n

The LILRC Diversity Internship Program<\/strong> offers diverse undergraduate students on Long
\nIsland a paid internship to learn more about libraries and librarianship as a career path.
\nLong Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) and the LILRC Diversity Committee are
\npleased to announce that Nancy Myers of Riverhead has been selected as the LILRC
\nIntern for Spring 2022. Ms. Myers is currently an undergraduate student at Suffolk County
\nCommunity College, where she will complete her Associate\u2019s Degree in Spring 2022. Ms.
\nMyers also works as a circulation clerk at the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor,
\nwhere she first developed an interest in librarianship. Ms. Myers will briefly speak at the
