New Adult Committee Meeting Monday, January 23 at 9:30am

Please join the New Adult Committee of RASD at our January 23 meeting at the Patchogue-Medford Library.  Andrew Mihopulos will be talking about how to build new programs and engage the DIY community. There are 1,000s of people on Long Island that do 1,000s of interesting things that would make 1,000s of great programs.  See ways in which networking and opening the door to new ideas have proven beneficial for the library and all individuals involved.

CARE (Career and Resource Exchange) Meeting Thursday, November 17 at 2:30pm

The CARE (Career and Resource Exchange) Committee of RASD (Reference and Adult Services Division), a division of SCLA, will be hosting a speaker from the Small Business Development Center at Stony Brook University on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Suffolk County Library System in Bellport. The presentation will start at 2:30, with a committee meeting to follow.

Please join us for a presentation by Pierre Lespinasse from the Small Business Development Center at Stony Brook University.  Mr Lespinasse will talk about the services offered by SBDC, which include counseling, workshops, and on-site assistance.
Pierre Lespinasse is a NYS Certified Business Advisor with over 25 years of business experience in Management Accounting and Financial Reporting at global banking institutions, including JP Morgan Chase and Credit Suisse. His responsibilities and expertise have ranged from financial forecasting to cost analysis and internal transfer pricing. He has a long-held interest in community-based economic development through education and mentorship and holds a BS in Management from Adelphi University and an MBA from Long Island University.

Professional development hours will be awarded.

Long Island Library Conference Call for Proposals

The theme for this year’s Long Island Library conference is “Reach for the Stars” and will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Melville Marriot. At this time we are asking the Library Associations and Divisions to submit their proposed program offerings. The attached sponsor form must be completed and returned no later than January 9, 2017.
