Fall New Adult Committee Meetings

9/17/2018 – Embedded Librarianship
Embedded Librarianship is one of the most valuable tools to working with any community, and this is especially true when working with a younger demographic. We will review how to work with stakeholders in your building to build relationships with New Adults. We will also discuss where and how to embed yourselves with this demographic outside the library walls.

11/19/2018 – Programming Roundtable
Librarians gather to share New Adult Programs over coffee and light refreshments. Librarians will be asked to submit some materials in advance to create packets everyone can take with them.

SLMA Award and PR and RASD Marketing Committee Meeting June 21 at 9:30am

As it nears the end of May, I want to remind all Public and Academic librarians to consider applying for the SLMA Award. The award is a countywide recognition of the best PR and Marketing campaigns done from 9/16/17 through 9/15/18. The awards will be given out at the SCLA Dinner in November.
The Suffolk Library Marketing Award recognizes the Best Public Relations Marketing Campaign by a Public or Academic Library in Suffolk County, a commission of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of the Reference and Adult Services Division of the Suffolk County Library Association, a Regional Chapter of the New York Library Association.
The application process is easy and the pride in your accomplishments will be great. Become the library that houses the SLMA Plaque for the next year!
The application is at rasdpr.wordpress.com for download.

Next Meeting

If you are looking for inspiration in creating a marketing campaign or publicity, come to the PR Committee Roundtable on June 21 at SCLS. Coffee and networking will start at 9:30 with the meeting to follow at 10:00 a.m. We can all share successes and failures along with talking about Facebook Live, fairs, one day events, themed months, outreach, newsletters, web pages, and e-mail blasts. It would be most welcome if you can bring and share publicity you have used in the past

If you can attend the meeting, please respond to this email to let me know. I look forward to seeing you there.
