CARE Committee Meeting: Hosting Speaker Thursday, February 16 at 2:30pm

The CARE (Career and Resource Exchange) Committee of RASD (Reference and Adult Services Division), a division of SCLA, will be hosting a speaker from the Job Corps on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System in Bellport. The presentation will start at 2:30, with a committee meeting to follow.

Job Corps is a free education and training program that helps young people learn a career, earn a high school diploma or GED, and find and keep a good job. For eligible young people at least 16 years of age that qualify as low income, Job Corps provides the all-around skills needed to succeed in a career and in life. Ms. Torelli will talk about the criteria and enrollment process for the program as well as how to identify potential candidates.

Professional development hours will be awarded.

Please email Nicole Berroyer at nicole@connetquotlibrary.org if you would like to attend or have any questions about the committee or our speaker.

PR Committee Meeting, Thursday, January 26 at 9:30am

Does your library strive for better ways to publicize your programs and market your services? Are you a tiny bit competitive (we won’t tell)?
Well, then you must attend the January 26th PR Committee meeting at the East Islip Public Library where the four entries for the 2016 SLMA Award will be presented, and library marketing will be discussed. The marketing campaigns that were submitted are examples of the excellent marketing that is going on in Suffolk County. Don’t miss them. Coffee will be served at 9:30 and the presentations will begin at 10:00. We will also discuss plans for 2017. Hope to see you there.
