Jody Fisher, VP of Public Relations at Austin Williams in Hauppauge, will analyze it and give you a workable solution. After a short lecture, Mr. Fisher will ask attendees to explain a program, service, or event they would like to publicize, and offer his suggestions on how to get the maximum your publicity efforts. RASD Media Committee: Podcasting Practices in the Library Meeting Follow-up

On Wednesday, February 13th, Sal DiVincenzo and Sara Fade from Middle Country Public Library and Chris Kretz of Stony Brook Southampton Library shared their knowledge and experiences around podcasting.

Sal and Sara talked about their weekly podcast, Middle Country Public Library Podcast<https://www.mcplibrary.org/podcasts/>. Their podcast focuses on the library collection, upcoming library programs and other library happenings. Sara, the producer, shared her experiences getting administration on board with this new venture and how they decide what they are going to talk about each week. Sal, the editor, discussed the equipment they use and the editing process. He also talked out finding the music from Creative Commons for the intro and music queues.

Chris Kretz is co-host, producer and editor of The Long Island History Project<http://www.longislandhistoryproject.org/> podcast. The podcast began out of Dowling College and has become a bi-monthly podcast featuring interviews with researchers, authors, collectors and others, focusing on the local history of Suffolk and Nassau counties. Kretz discussed recording the podcast with Zencaster and editing with Audacity. He also talked about the pro’s and con’s of podcast hosting platforms like SoundCloud, Podbean, Blubrry and Libsyn.
