RASD PR & Marketing Committee Meeting Change

Please note the change in time for the January 21st roundtable discussion and presentation of the three marketing campaigns submitted for the 2015 Suffolk Library Marketing Award – SLMA. We will now be meeting after the Heads of Reference Meeting, in the SCLA Auditorium at 11:30 a.m. on 1/21/16. All are welcome to participate in this opportunity to learn about three unique events done in 2015 by your colleagues. Plan to stay after the Heads of Reference meeting, join us and get inspired. If time allows we will also be looking at the ALA John Cotton Dana Award winners for 2015.

Emerging Technology Presentation Thursday, December 10 at 9:30am

Please join us for a roundtable discussion on emerging technology at the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library on Thursday, December 10, 9:30 coffee 10am meeting. We’ll talk about some of the trends for 2016, including aggregated learning and predictive consumerism, and how they will affect our libraries.

Dave Jones from the Westhampton Library do a presentation on Virtual Reality and Oculus.

2015 RASD SLMA Award Winners Announced

The winners have been announced! The 2015 RASD SLMA Awards were presented at the SCLA Dinner at Villa Lombardi’s. We are happy to announce that Connetquot Library (Susann Altman) received a certificate of participation for their “Celebrating 40 Years “campaign, the Smithtown Library (Julie DeLaney, Public Relations Assistant) received an Honorable Mention ribbon for their “350th Anniversary of Smithtown Program” and the Patchogue/Medford Library (Laura Accardi, Library Development Assistant & Karen McCahey, Community Program Coordinator) won this year’s SLMA Award for their “We Love You Too” campaign. They will have SLMA Plaque to display in their library for one year.
