CARE Committee: Speaker from Services for the Underserved Thursday, May 19, 2016

The CARE (Career and Resource Exchange) Committee of RASD (Reference and Adult Services Division), a division of SCLA, will be hosting a speaker from Services for the Underserved on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Connetquot Public Library. The committee meeting will be at 2:30pm, the presentation starts at 3:30pm.

Please join us for a presentation by Megan Corso from Services for the UnderServed.  Megan will be speaking about the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, a housing stability program for homeless veterans.  The program provides temporary financial assistance to veterans who are at risk of becoming homeless.  To assist with the veterans’ stability, they provide employment services, assistance with benefits, and a variety of other services.

Long Island History Committee’s Genealogy and Local History Program Showcase: Thursday, April 21, 9:30

This year’s Long Island History Committee’s Genealogy and Local History Program Showcase is on Thursday, April 21 at SCLS.  We have a wonderful variety of programmers this year, so I hope you’ll be able to join us.  Refreshments will be served at 9:30 AM and the presentations will run from 10:00 AM to approximately 12:00 Noon.  There will also be time before and after the presentations to speak to the programmers.

Electronic Resources Meeting: Thursday, March 17 at 9:30am

The Electronic Resources Roundtable (part of RASD) will be meeting at SCLS Thursday, March 17, 9:30 coffee, 10 am meeting.

We will discuss the newly released PEW report about libraries and perpetual learning, among other topics.
