On October 29, 2014, the SCLA Support Staff Division had its Annual Membership meeting at the Brentwood Public Library. Light refreshments were served at 9:30 and our guest speaker Celia Vollmer, American Red Cross Trainer, began her presentation Disaster Preparedness: Before, During and After. Celia provided detailed information and resources to prepare for, respond to,  and recover from numerous disasters.  One important point was that we need to look out for one another starting with family then neighbors and finally our community.  Gov. Cuomo’s Citizen Preparedness Corps Regional representative, Patrick Beckley, was also at the meeting to answer any questions from attendees after Celia’s presentation.  All attendees left with several handouts and much to think about. 

Our raffle winners were: Catherine Casciola of WISP: the American Red Cross Go-Bag; Stacie Minder of HAUP and Tashi Hamilton of PJEF: mini First Aid Kits.  SSD would like to thank the American Red Cross for donating all the raffle prizes and for the hospitality of Tom Tarantowicz, Director of the Brentwood Public Library and the Brentwood Public Library staff!
