HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF FOR LIBRARY WORKERS
Superstorm Sandy has left behind immeasurable grief for our communities. We are asking you to support our fund-raising effort on behalf of the community of library workers in Suffolk County affected by the storm. These people are our family, and we must care for them. Some lost their homes and possessions, some suffered severe damages. We can’t fix that, but we can show them we care with a monetary gift. The Public Library Directors Association of Suffolk and the Suffolk County Library Association have joined together with SCLS to create a fund to support this effort.
To donate go to http://gateway.suffolklibrarysystem.org/content/donate-hurricane-relief and click on the Donate button. Please fill in a donation amount, payment information, and choose “Library Staff Hurricane Relief” in the dropdown menu. Your generosity is appreciated.
2012 ANNUAL MEMEBERSHIP MEETING
On October 12, 2012, the SCLS Support Staff Division held its Annual Membership meeting at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System. After a delicious breakfast and short business meeting, attendees were taken on an entertaining step-by-step journey of the New York State and Local Retirement System by Arthur Greene from the Hauppauge office. Mr. Greene had all the information necessary to get the most out of the pension system from the day you enter to the day you retire and beyond. A booklet was given to each attendee for future reference. The most important piece of advice: Call the Retirement office with your questions to avoid misinformation that could affect your retirement plans! They are ready and willing to help you!
