Long Island Library Conference 2020

 

The Long Island Library Conference will be held  at the Melville Marriott on May 14th, 2020.

We are delighted to announce that author, literary critic, and “America’s librarian,” Nancy Pearl, will be the keynote speaker for the 2020 Long Island Library Conference.

Early Bird registration is now open. You must be a member of SCLA to qualify for this offer.

The Long Island Library Conference is an educational forum for all those who work in and for libraries. Held annually to provide innovative and informational programs as well as networking opportunities to improve the quality of the public, special, school and university libraries of Long Island, the Conference is organized and sponsored by the Suffolk County Library Association (SCLA) and the Nassau County Library Association (NCLA).

The conference is planned by a dedicated group of volunteers. If you would like to participate, please contact the committee chairperson at LILCChair@gmail.com.

“General registration is now open for the first ever CATS/TIF Technology Petting Zoo!  The program will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at SCLS.  During this free program, we will exchange ideas and information about the latest in technology, STEM programming, activities, lending, and services for all ages. Attendees will have the opportunity to freely explore different tables and demonstrations run by a variety of Suffolk and Nassau Libraries.

The Suffolk Library Marketing Award recognizes the Best Public Relations
Marketing Campaign by a Public or Academic Library in Suffolk County, a
commission of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of the Reference
and Adult Services Division of the Suffolk County Library Association,
a Regional Chapter of the New York Library Association.

The deadline of September 15, 2019 is just around the corner. Be sure to go to rasdpr.wordpress.com and start working on your entrance application for the SLMA Award. It is an easy application and before you know it you can have the bragging rights to being the best in Suffolk County.

Teen & Reference Librarian Breakfast

Calling all teen and reference librarians!  The New Adult Committee of RASD and YASD will be hosting a breakfast for teen and reference librarians on Thursday, September 19th from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at SCLS.  Come down and discuss the ways we can bridge the gap between both departments to pave way for more new adult services.
