Changing things up from previous years, there are no longer booklets of paper raffles. Ticket purchases can only be made online and winners will be auto-generated at the SCLA dinner on November 15th.
You do not have to attend the dinner in order to purchase raffle tickets, or to win! Some of our fun prizes this year include: SoBol gift certificates, painting classes, and theater tickets!

The SCLA Support Staff Division will be hosting its 3rd Annual Safety Conference and Annual Membership Meeting at the Brentwood Public Library on October 17, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m..
Our presenters: Geraldine Hart, Suffolk county Police Commissioner; Patrick Beckley & Nicole Marks, Homeland Security Emergency Services; Matthew Settaducati, Public Employee Safety & Health Bureau (PESH); Jessica Price, Empathy; and NARCAN Training Suffolk county Division of Community Mental Hygiene Services.

NAC Presents: Embedded Librarianship

Embedded Librarianship is one of the most valuable tools to working with any community, and this is especially true when working with a younger demographic.  The New Adult Committee will review how to work with stakeholders in your building to fashion relationships with New Adults.  We will also discuss where and how to embed yourselves with this demographic outside of the library walls.

Coffee/tea will be at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Canva is a graphic-design tool website, founded in 2012. It uses a drag-and-drop format and provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts. It is used by non-designers as well as professionals.

RASD Media Committee meeting, September 19th, at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System

Please join us Wednesday, September 19th, for the RASD Media Committee meeting at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, 9:30 a.m. for coffee and 10:00 a.m. for the meeting.

We’ll have a great discussion about Middle County Library’s Zine Collection.  Nicole Rambo, the Media Committee co-chair, will be discussing their very unique collection.  We’ll also be talking about the circulating board game and lawn game collections at Sayville Library, and how you can start your own.  As well as, the circulating toy collection at Middle Country.

The Suffolk County Library Association, serving Suffolk County libraries since 1939, offers an academic scholarship to assist an outstanding library school student in subsidizing the cost of their library school education, and to promote the profession by supporting an excellent student pursuing a Library or Information Science Master’s Degree in Suffolk County.
