CATS Board 2013 Nominations

CATS Board 2013

VP/President Elect

James Matias
Middle Country Public Library

Treasurer

Eileen DeSimone
Long Island University/Brentwood campus
Eileen DeSimone is an experienced librarian, manager, and educator who is recognized for her leadership, innovation in information literacy and research. Eileen is a graduate of LIU Post and earned her MLS in 2005. She earned a BS degree in education from Dowling college in 1995 and taught in a classroom for over ten years. Eileen is currently the part time reference and instructional librarian at LIU Brentwood campus library.  She was formerly a librarian at TOURO College in Bay Shore where she was responsible for collection, circulation, research, information literacy, training on library systems, handling the weekly & monthly statistical reports, and information retrieval.  Eileen previously managed project services at public schools and public community offices. Eileen spent a good deal of time seeking innovative ways to cope with budget crunches. She ran her father’s construction business for several years during his illness, writes on environment for the juvenile collection (unpublished), enjoys reading about home construction and remodeling, and assists her husband cooking delicious Italian meals.  Eileen also held numerous volunteer positions within and out of libraries where she held the treasurer position in 2004 and 2005 for SSLMA. Other volunteer work includes programs such as Canine Companions and presentations on training and career development for high school students transitioning to college.  “My goal is to find ways that libraries can generate funds to do more with less” I am happy to be nominated for the treasury position for CATS and will do a superb job while in office.
