Social Media Policy Draft John Jermain Memorial Library

Eric Cohen would appreciate and comments to help finalize the policy.

Another example is the Whitman Public Library of Massachusetts whose policy has been cited in the following article:

Tablet Lending and Public Use Discussion @ SCLS – Thursday – January 12, 2012

This is the mobility meeting you have all been waiting for!!! Come and hear best practices, what worked, what didn’t work, and how one of the island’s leading libraries has instituted tablet lending for in-house public use. Ask the questions you have always wondered about and get some refreshingly new ideas on how this technology can be used in a public library setting.

How NSPL has integrated iPads into their collection. The Children’s Reference and Adult’s Reference departments at NSPL have recently started loaning out iPads in-house to patrons. Come see the reasons why they did it, what pitfalls they encountered and how they were addressed. What’s to come in the future for mobile computing in libraries?

We will be discussing cost, staff involvement, durability, security, and more…

Ruth Westfall, Administrator for Technology Services at SCLS, will also be discussing and demonstrating the Live-brary mobile app.

When: Thursday, January 12, 2012
Time: 9:30 coffee 10 am Meeting
