November TIF Meeting – Thursday, November 5th – Brentwood Public Library

We have a very exciting meeting planned for this Thursday. We will focus primarily on new types of patron programming as well as best practices in creating how-to guides for digital services.
Dominic Iadicicco will lead us in a demonstration and discussion on the Hour of Code series of programs he has been hosting at the South Country Library. Mr. Iadicicco has seen great success and attendance with these monthly programs. The primary focus is to learn how to code in easy self-guided steps. The attendees create apps, greeting cards, animations and more.
Nick Tanzi will lead us in a discussion on best practices for digital services how-to guides. Under Mr. Tanzi’s direction as Head of Digital Services , the Mastic Moriches Shirley Community Library has created and distributed relevant how-to guides for their digital services. These guides serve as an always available, single point of self guided instruction for the patrons.

Library use by this demographic declines after people complete their educations and they do not traditionally return to the library until they start to have children. How do we attract this demographic after they complete school and before they start a family? What technology can we offer to attract this group of people?

 – How do I know if I already have one?
 – How can we harness their ideas and encourage them to lead?
 – I think I have one, what’s next?
 – How can I best allow them to succeed?
